The poll was conducted during the All-Russian Representative Population Survey among 2,100 respondents over 16 years old in May. The data are compared to the results of the similar survey held in November 2017.

"According to the GfK, 56 percent of the surveyed Russians over the age of 16 plan to actively follow the events of the World Cup: watch matches on TV or on the Internet. It is more than 67 million people over the age of 16. In the fall of 2017, the proportion of those who planned to watch matches was 42 percent," a statement posted on the GfK official website said.

The poll also showed that the main audience of the World Cup in Russia was made up of millennials and adults between the ages of 40-49, while the greatest interest in the events of the tournament was observed in the regions where the matches will be held.
