Juan Antonio Pizzi will stay as Saudi Arabia head coach at least until the end of the 2019 AFC Asian Cup after extending his deal with the country's football federation, the national team said on Twitter on Tuesday.
Saudi Arabia snatched a late 2-1 victory over Egypt in their final Group A game on Monday, after suffering a 5-0 defeat by Russia and a 1-0 loss to Uruguay, but were knocked out of the FIFA World Cup.
Pizzi, a former Spain striker, has served as Saudi Arabia head coach since November 2017. The 50-year-old Argentine-born Spaniard previously managed Chili and a number of clubs in Latin America and Spain.
The 2019 Asian Cup will take place in the United Arab Emirates from 5 January to 1 February.
