MOSCOW, July 13 (Sputnik) - Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet with Gabonese President Ali Bongo Ondimba on Saturday, Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov said on Friday.
"Talks with President of Gabonese Republic Ali Bongo Ondimba will take place. This October, by the way, marks the 45th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations," Ushakov told reporters.
The official noted that the two countries had good prospects for cooperation in oil extraction.
He also stressed that the ongoing FIFA World Cup provided Russia with an opportunity to meet with many African leaders.
"The World Cup gave us the opportunity to meet with many African leaders, which is very important for a country as large as Russia, whose leaders, due to busy schedule, are not so often able to visit the African continent. We have held series of very useful meetings, and this will all contribute to the further development of our cooperation with African countries and Africa as a whole," Ushakov said.
