"To assist citizens of Romania who want to attend the World Cup in Russia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs provides the public with a guide that contains useful information for a comfortable journey abroad, as well as codes of conduct at stadiums," the ministry's press service said in a statement.

The guide has been published on the ministry's website and official Facebook page. According to it, Romanians should not visit Crimea and the North Caucasus during their travel to Russia.

The ministry has also reminded its citizens they can download a travel safety mobile app that allows users to notify the authorities if they are at risk.

Crimea rejoined Russia in 2014 following a referendum, with over 90 percent of the residents voting for the reunification. However, Ukraine still considers the peninsula Ukrainian territory. Russian officials have repeatedly pointed out that the reunification took place via a referendum, in line with international law.

Russia will host its first World Cup from June 14 to July 15. The fixtures will be played at 12 stadiums across 11 cities.
