The Russian national football team prepares for their next FIFA World Cup game against Egypt as planned, head coach Stanislav Cherchesov said on Monday.
Russia will face Egypt in St. Petersburg on Tuesday after routing Saudi Arabia 5-0 in the World Cup opener on Thursday.
"Training goes as planned. We did all we wanted, today we had a pre-game training and added the set pieces because we didn't have time for them yesterday," said Cherchesov.
"Everyone is getting ready for the match. This is the World Cup, all teams need to play very fast and use tactics depending on each opponent. We are not an exception," he added.
He also praised Aleksandr Golovin's goal in the match against Saudi Arabia noting, however, that it was the teamwork that secured the victory for Russia.
"We are giving him the opportunity to show his best abilities. He did his best in the first game and we hope will continue to do so. Forwards are obviously catching the eye. But there are also players in defence. We achieved the result in our first game and every player had a chance to prove themselves," Cherchesov said.
Russia's first-ever FIFA World Cup is being be held at 12 arenas across 11 cities with the final set to be played at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium on July 15.
