NOVOGORSK, June 7 (Sputnik) - Russia defender Ilya Kutepov said on Thursday that everything "will be fine" for his country at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, set to take place in Russia this summer.
“I can say: relax, everything will be fine at the World Cup,” Kutepov told journalists.
Russia suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Austria on May 30 and played out a 1-1 draw with Turkey on Tuesday.
Kutepov added that the players did not need any comforting after the friendly matches.
“We are professionals, everyone understands everything,” he said.
The 24-year-old, who plays for Spartak Moscow, has been capped seven times for Russia and was named in the country's final 23-man World Cup squad on Sunday.
The World Cup gets underway on June 14, with the final to be played on July 15. The hosts have been drawn in Group A along with Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Uruguay.
