Dzagoev underwent an MRI scan on Thursday, which confirmed he had damaged his left hamstring.

"How did the team react to Alan Dzagoev's injury? There's no exact diagnosis, they [doctors] say about ten days [recovery time]. Of course, everyone is upset that Alan will miss the next match but we hope that the doctors will do their best and he recovers faster," Golovin told journalists.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup will last until July 15, with the games set to be played at 12 stadiums across 11 Russian cities.

Russia will next face Egypt on Tuesday and Uruguay on June 25 in their remaining two Group A matches.
