Zenit St. Petersburg striker Aleksandr Kokorin hopes Russia can dispatch Egypt 2-0 in their World Cup group stage encounter set to be held at the 64,000-seater St. Petersburg Stadium on Wednesday morning (AEST).
"I think the first game (between Russia and Saudi Arabia) has surprised everyone," Kokorin told Zenit's official site.
"It was tough in every section of the pitch, the guys' emotions, and such a score. The most important thing now is to continue (playing like this).
"I would like us to beat Egypt, as Igor (Akinfeev, Russia goalkeeper) doesn't like to concede (goals). So I hope that (the score) will be 2-0.
"And then (we need) to prepare to face Spain or Portugal (in the round of 16)."
Kokorin misses the World Cup due to injury.
Russia, who thrashed Saudi Arabia 5-0 in the World Cup opener on Thursday, are to face Egypt, who lost to Uruguay 1-0 on Friday, in St. Petersburg on Tuesday.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup kicked off on June 14 and will continue until July 15, with the matches set to be played in 11 cities across Russia.
