On Tuesday, the All-Russian Association of Passengers filed a complaint with the Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service, claiming that the average ticket prices for flights between Moscow and other host cities during the World Cup had doubled, with some of Aeroflot's tickets showing up to a nine-fold increase.

“Aeroflot firmly denies the recent allegations of hiking ticket prices for the period of the 2018 FIFA World Cup,” the spokesperson said.

The company added that the ticket prices were no higher than in 2017 and at least half of the tickets for the flights in question had been sold at the lowest price.

According to the spokesperson, the association's report cannot be considered comprehensive or correct since it must have been made when almost all tickets had sold out and only the leftover tickets, that are sold at the highest prices, had been taken into account.

Russia will host the 2018 FIFA World Cup for the first time from June 14 to July 15, with the games taking place in 11 cities across the country.
