Russia beat Egypt 3-1 in their Group A encounter on Tuesday. This means after their second group-stage match, Russia have six points and have an excellent chance of reaching the knockout stage, where they could face Portugal, Spain, Iran or Morocco.

"An excellent result in the match against Egypt. The whole country supported our national team, we wish them further success in the match against Uruguay. Our result at the tournament is already an achievement, but we believe in our national team and their further success," Golodets told journalists.

Russia will play Uruguay in their final group-stage match at the Samara Arena on Monday.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup kicked off on June 14 and will continue until July 15, with the matches set to be played in 11 cities across Russia.
