MOSCOW, June 7 (Sputnik) - Russian Railways will serve national dishes of the countries taking part in the 2018 FIFA World Cup on its high-speed Sapsan trains during the tournament, the company told Sputnik Thursday.
The Sapsan trains run between Moscow and St. Petersburg, and between St. Petersburg and Nizhny Novgorod in Western Russia.
"On match days from June 14 to June 26, there will be a limited-time offer 'Let's support the 2018 FIFA World Cup teams' on the Sapsan trains. The dining cars will be offering various national dishes, Russian, French, Middle Eastern and Eastern European, depending on which teams will be playing [that day]," Russian Railways said in a statement.
According to the company, the Sapsan passengers will be able to try Russian cuisine on June 14 when Russia are set to face Saudi Arabia in the World Cup opener at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium.
Middle Eastern cuisine will be available when Morocco take on Iran in St. Petersburg and Egypt play Uruguay in Yekaterinburg on June 15.
Russia's first-ever FIFA World Cup will take place between June 14 and July 15 at 12 stadiums across 11 cities. The teams are set to play in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sochi, Kazan, Kaliningrad, Volgograd, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Saransk, Rostov-on-Don and Yekaterinburg.
