"I can say that the Krasnodar Region is 100 percent ready to welcome the participants and fans of the World Cup. And it's true not only for the stadium, the training grounds and the base camps. We've also dealt with the issues regarding transport and medical service," Kondratiev told journalists.

The governor added that a total of 1,900 volunteers would be working in the region during the World Cup.

The city of Sochi, in the south-east of the region, will host a total of six World Cup games as well as accommodate the Brazilian and Polish national teams. Krasnodar and Anapa will serve as base camps for the teams from Spain and Denmark respectively, while the city of Gelendzhik will accommodate the players from Sweden and Iceland.

Russia will host its first FIFA World Cup from June 14 to July 15. The matches will take place in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Volgograd, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Saransk, Rostov-on-Don, Yekaterinburg, and Sochi.
