The Polish television has made a profit of about 10 million zloty (about $2.7 million) from the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, Chairman of the Polish national state broadcaster TVP Jacek Kurski said.
"Yes, we've made money out of the tournament. The revenue amounted to about 77 million zloty [about $20.8 million]," Kurski said.
He added that this amount included advertising income, sponsors' investments, income made on the Internet and income from the licensing of fan zones.
According to Kurski, TVP's expenses amounted to about 67 million zloty (about $18.1 million).
"Polish Television has made about ten million zloty [about $2.7 million] exclusively out of the World Cup," Kurski said.
Poland failed to advance to the round of 16 at the World Cup after finishing bottom of Group H, as they lost to Senegal and Colombia before beating Japan 1-0 in their final game.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup kicked off on June 14 and came to a close on Sunday, with France defeating Croatia 4-2 in the final at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium.
