Tens of thousands of Croatians are celebrating their national team advancing to the FIFA World Cup final that will take place at Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium on Monday (AEST), Croatian national channel HRT reported on Wednesday.
Fans with flags, dressed in colors of the national team are dancing, singing, setting off fireworks on the night streets of Zagreb and other major cities after Croatia beat England 2-1 and advanced to the final where they will face France.
Government officials, including President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic and Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, have already congratulated the team.
England will now face Belgium in the third place play-off in St. Petersburg on Sunday (AEST).
The 2018 FIFA World Cup kicked off on June 14 and will continue until July 15, with the final between France and Croatia to be held at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium.
