MOSCOW, June 4 (Sputnik) - Turkey head coach Mircea Lucescu joked on Monday that the Brazilian Football Confederation owed him a bonus for training a number of their players while he was head coach of Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk.
Lucescu was in charge of Shakhtar from 2004 to 2016 and trained Fernandinho, Douglas Costa, Willian and Fred who have all been included in Brazil’s World Cup squad.
"The Brazilians owe me a bonus. I’ve trained eight or nine people who have received a call-up to Brazil’s World Cup squad. I love this team and feel I’m a part of it. I hope they will play some great football at the World Cup,” Lucescu told journalists.
Russia's first-ever FIFA World Cup will take place from June 14 to July 15 in 11 host cities. Five-time champions Brazil have been drawn in Group E along with Switzerland, Costa Rica and Serbia, while Turkey failed to qualify.
