VAR has been used at the 2018 World Cup in Russia for the first time in the tournament's history.

"Technical progress cannot be stopped in any sport, so VAR is just a matter of time and money to equip stadiums with it. Sooner or later, VAR will be introduced at all the major competitions. The other thing is that more clarity is needed as to when VAR should be used... It seems that the system is paying off," Zhukov told journalists.

On Friday, FIFA President Gianni Infantino said that VAR had helped to make correct over 99 percent of all refereeing decisions at this year's World Cup.

This summer's World Cup kicked off on June 14 and ended with France beating Croatia 4-2 in the final at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium earlier on Sunday and lifting their second World Cup trophy.
