KALININGRAD, June 29 (Sputnik) - Belgium head coach Roberto Martinez on Thursday called the World Cup in Russia “very impressive,” stressing that it is the best one he had participated in.
“[It is] very impressive. I’ve been involved in the last two World Cups directly in every way, and knowing the logistics, knowing the way the logistics work, I must admit this World Cup is by far the best that I’ve been involved in,” Martinez told journalists after the game against England.
The coach went on to praise the hospitality of the host nation and the entire organization of the tournament, which, according to Martinez, “surprised everyone” and created an incredible image of Russia and its people.
Belgium defeated England 1-0 in their final group-stage game on Thursday, securing first place in Group G and making it into the knockout stage.
The Red Devils will face Japan in the round of 16 in Rostov-on-Don on Monday.
