The rocket will carry the Soyuz MS-09 spaceship with the crew of Expedition 56-57, namely Russia’s cosmonaut Sergey Prokopyev, Germany’s Alexander Gerst of the European Space Agency and NASA astronaut Serena Aunon-Chancellor, to the ISS.

This is not the first time that carrier rockets have been painted with special imagery ahead of major events. In 2013, the Soyuz TMA-11M was carrying the logo of the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, and in 2016, Soyuz TMA-20M had the image of first cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin painted on it.

Russia will host the 2018 FIFA World Cup from June 14 to July 15, with the games set to take place at 12 arenas in 11 cities across the country.
