GERMANY

Bernd Leno 3- Had little to do but was at fault for both of Australia’s goals.

Joshua Kimmich 7- Regularly linked up with Brandt on Germany’s right, causing Australia all kinds of problems. A few wayward crosses.

Shkodran Mustafi 6.5- Unfortunate that Rogic’s shot bounced off him and back into the Celtic man’s path for the opener. Overall a solid game.

Antonio Rüdiger 6.5- Comfortable when bringing the ball out of defence. Passing was occasionally off the mark though.

Antonio Rudiger was solid in defence

Jonas Hector 7- The full back was almost playing as a winger on Germany’s left-hand-side. Found himself in some great positions but, like Kimmich, his final ball could have been better.

Sebastian Rudy 6.5- Kept things ticking in the middle of the park with some sharp passes. Was less effective after the break.

Lars Stindl 7- Produced a well-timed run for Germany’s opener. Interchanged well with Rudy and Goretzka in midfield. A few too many backwards passes in the second half.

Leon Goretzka 8.5- The standout player on the night. Made several untracked runs into Australia’s penalty area and created chances for others. Great finish for Germany’s third.
