Trent Sainsbury 8 – Apparently he had a bunch of clubs enquiring about his services during the France game. Solid offers should be coming in after this game too. Sainsbury finds good passes forward and his positioning has been superb.

Josh Risdon 7 – Not as dynamic as Behich is on the left and it makes the team a little lopsided. He did his defensive duties really well.

Mile Jedinak 7.5 – Calmly despatched another penalty. He was dominant in midfield. He’s made a name for himself with performances like these. He won countless headers and stifled one of the most highly-rated attacking midfielders in the world.

Aaron Mooy 8.5 – Played his position beautifully and found a lot more forward passes than he did against the French. Struck a sweet strike in the second half that just flashed wide. A player at the peak of his career, playing well on the biggest stage.

Tom Rogic 7 – Had some very nice touches throughout. Held the ball up very well. He didn’t look to shoot as often as he usually does, and his game is worse for this. Australia did lose some attacking qualities when he left the pitch.

Robbie Kruse 4.5 – Was off the pace.  Maybe he needed some confidence building in the lead up to the World Cup. He’s a shadow of the player he once was. He still finds good positions but as he showed with his decision not to hit Leckie’s cutback first time, he’s not at his best.

Matthew Leckie 7 – Took him a little while to come into the game but when he did, he produced some fantastic wing play to create a great chance for Robbie Kruse.

Andrew Nabbout 5.5 – Had some good early touches and got on the ball more in the first fifteen minutes of this game then he did in the entire French game. He made a nuisance of himself but he needs to work on his positioning in the box. He doesn’t threaten the goal enough for a striker. Hopefully his shoulder is not too bad.

Subs

Daniel Arzani 7 – The way he took on players and threatened the goal in his limited game time was fantastic. He’ll be hoping he’s done enough to win a starting spot against Peru.

Tomi Juric 5.5 – Held the ball up well once but didn’t get the ball much.

Jackson Irvine 5 – Came on for the last seven minutes.
