This was the result Princess Mary probably wanted. A 1-1 draw between Denmark and Australia in Samara means both sides can still qualify for the knockout stages of the World Cup
Denmark
Kaspar Schmiechel 6.5 – Did he study any of Jedinak’s penalties in the lead up to this game? If he did do the homework, he should have done better on the penalty. Otherwise his game was nearly flawless with only one poor piece of distribution.
Henrik Dalsgaard 6 – The Danish defence was excellent. He accounted for Kruse without any trouble and managed to foul him a lot less than most opponents. Arzani proved a lot trickier for this Dane.
Simon Kjar 7 – Did really well to deny Leckie in a one-on-one chance in the second half. His positioning was excellent all game.
Andreas Christensen 7 – Another Danish defender who can hold his head up high. Australia really only threatened down the flanks and from range, never from the striker and never down the middle.
Jens Stryger Larson 6.5 – Had Leckie to deal with for most of the game and did well until the second half. Provided some good width in possession.
Thomas Delaney 4.5 – He butchered a late cross when he should have done so much better. He struggled to deal with Rogic all game and he mostly passed it sideways and backwards.
Lasse Schöne 6 – He was the Danish midfielder who asked the most questions of the Socceroos during the majority of the game. He got forward more often than Eriksen but he didn’t have the end product.
Christian Eriksen 6 – An absolutely beautiful finish for Denmark’s goal. After that he didn’t have the impact on the game most would have expected. If not for his goal he’d be rated much lower. Australia got the better of the midfield and he’ll be disappointed he didn’t find more space.
Yurary Poulsen 4 – Another player who for some reason decided to put his hands up over his head in the box. He misses the next game after being carded for his mistake, which was pretty harsh. Other than this, his influence on the game was minimal.
