The Newcastle Jets have claimed just their second win of the season, defeating a Brisbane Roar side without their star-striker Adam Taggart for most of the game, after he injured his hamstring last week.
BRISBANE ROAR
Jamie Young- 7
Not at fault for either goal, let down by a lackluster defence. Unusually sloppy distribution, turning the ball over on multiple occasions.
Jack Hingert- 6.5
Pushed up high and left exposed on the counter-attack. Unable to find a quality delivery into the box, but not helped by a lack of targets to cross to.
Daniel Bowles- 6
Lucky not to be sent off. Compensated for his lack of technical ability through overly physical challenges and shirt-tugging. Replaced by Jacob Pepper after a knock to the head.
Avraam Papadopoulos- 8
Safe to say he enjoys a slide tackle or two, yet he executed almost every tackle to perfection, and can hold his head up high on a disappointing day for his side.
Connor O’Toole- 7
Got into good attacking positions without much end product and only ended up delivering one successful cross all afternoon.
Thomas Kristensen- 7
As per usual the Dane was central to everything Roar did in attack. However the lack of a target-man hurt the midfielder, who was unable to find the incisive passes.
