The Newcastle Jets have claimed just their second win of the season, defeating a Brisbane Roar side without their star-striker Adam Taggart for most of the game, after he injured his hamstring last week.
Matt Mckay- 7
Looked out of ideas without Taggart to play off. The captain tried hard all game but will be very disappointed with his side.
Alex Lopez- 6
Kept quiet by the Jets' midfielders, and lacked quality with his deliveries into the box.
Tobias Mikkelsen- 7
Solid passing radar. Unable to unlock the Jets defence with any key passes.
Eric Bautheac- 6
Couldn’t find the killer ball in attack but worked hard defensively. Bautheac’s intensity faded as the game went on and he looked distinctly frustrated towards the end of the match.
Henrique- 6
Still has good feet but lacks the physicality required to go up against Boogard and Topor-Stanley. Showed his experience to win fouls against stronger defenders early on, but fitness got the better of the 33 year old in the second half.
SUBS
Jacob Pepper- n/a
Replaced Bowles in the 79th minute.
Adam Taggart- 6
Replaced Matt Mckay in the 70th minute. Was a surprise inclusion given he had a slight hamstring tear going into the match.
Dylan Wenzel-Halls- 7
Replaced Mikkelsen in the 59th minute. Ran hard for over 30 minutes, including a brilliant defensive chase down in stoppage time.
