NEWCASTLE Jets have bolstered their squad for next season after today confirming that they have signed North Queensland Fury's Chris Payne on a two-year deal.
Payne is set to form part of the Jets' new strike force for next year alongside Ryan Griffiths, who signed a three-year deal last month.
"The Jets have definitely impressed a lot of people in the past couple of months and I'm excited about being a part of the squad next year," said the 20-year-old forward.
"The club is obviously heading in a great direction and I'm looking forward to contributing.
"For now I want to give my best to Fury and help my team-mates to some good results for the rest of this season."
Jets coach Branko Culina was pleased with Payne's acquisition.
"Chris is a promising young player who's got a lot of potential," Culina said. "He's been around the A-League for a couple of years now and we think he could be a very good player for us.
"It's a challenge for him now to step up and be part of a wonderful new era for the club."
