A friendly in 2003 that signalled the start of the “Golden Generation” who could forget Kewell robbing his Leeds teammate Rio Ferdinand before coolly rounding keeper David James and slotting home for Australia’s second to make it 2-0 on the stroke of half-time. The Aussie supporters behind that goal that night will tell you it was one of their sweetest moments. The English were upstaged by the green and gold in their capital London. Not bad given Kewell was sick as a dog before the game. The Socceroos went on to win 3-1.
