For the second time this season, Western Sydney put four goals past Wellington Phoenix as an unlikely Brendan Hamill brace moved Wanderers a step closer to securing a finals spot.
Western Sydney Wanderers
Vedran Janjetovic - 7
Janjetovic could do nothing about Singh’s goal as his heroics were used in denying Roy Krishna in the lead up to Wellington’s equaliser.
Joshua Risdon - 7
Risdon had his game face on tonight after being listed as apart of Socceroos coach Bert van Maarwijk’s 29-man squad for the upcoming friendlies against Norway and Colombia. Under little pressure from Sarpreet Singh the 25-year old handled himself professionally.
Brendan Hamill - 8
After a gaffe in the first half, missing a point blank header, the defender came up trumps securing the three points with two exceptional finishes from Wanderers corners.
Michael Thwaite - 6.5
Wellington’s front three were no match for the experienced defender winning countless headed duels and intercepting multiple threaded passes from Wellington’s midfielders as they tried to play direct.
Raul Llorente - 5
If there was anything Wellington did exceptionally it was closing down Raul Llorente. The Spaniard has proven to be exceptionally important for the Wanderers going forward however Nathan Burns and Scott Galloway closed down the danger.
Roly Bonevacia - 5
On his return from suspension it seemed he may need a week to get the legs moving again. Under a lot of pressure from the Wellington midfielders Bonevacia’s passing was far from perfect.
Marcelo Carrusca - N/A
Looked promising as the Argentinian pulled the strings in the front third however he was substituted early with a quad complaint.
