8. Charlie Miller (Brisbane Roar & Gold Coast United)
The Scottish attacking midfielder arrived in Australia in mid-2008 aged 32 and appearing a tad overweight. However, he showed his quality straight away, scoring goals in each of Brisbane's first four games in the 2008-09 season.
Miller, though, dazzled A-League crowds with flair and skill, going on to win the inaugural A-League Foreigner of the Year award in 2008-09. He never consistently re-discovered that brilliant first-season form at Roar before joining Gold Coast where he showed glimpses of his quality.
